Trusted Messenger Network
California Human Development (CHD) is a partner of The Office of Community Partnerships and Strategic Communications (OCPSC). The OCPSC selected us as a key member of their Trusted Messenger Network, to spread California’s most important public awareness campaigns.
Working with a vast network of trusted messengers, CHD ensures critical information is not only accurate but also culturally relevant and accessible to communities across Northern California. Our efforts focus on building stronger connections between residents and the government and addressing urgent issues that impact their daily life. Through this collaboration, we engage local residents with educational materials, hands-on resources, and outreach programs to promote youth mental health, heat safety, water conservation, and financial inclusion.
Check out some of the work California Human Development is doing for campaigns that tackle major challenges facing our communities, including Youth Mental Health, Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), Extreme Heat, Save Our Water CA.

Individual Taxpayer Identification Number
An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is a tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that allows you to file taxes and claim tax credits. Individuals who are required to have a U.S. taxpayer identification number and are not eligible to obtain a Social Security Number (SSN) are eligible for an ITIN. Low-income Californians who file tax returns with an ITIN are eligible to claim the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) and Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC). The Office is assisting with outreach and education on what an ITIN is, how to apply, and its benefits. Click here to learn more about getting an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number
