Camp NúñezTime spent in nature, gazing at the stars and singing songs around the campfire…ah, summer camp! It’s an experience every child should have but is too often out of reach for children of low-income families. California Human Development (CHD) is thrilled to present Camp Núñez, where youngsters—whose families otherwise couldn’t afford it—get to experience the fun and transformative learning of summer camp.
Nestled in the hills of Cazadero, Camp Núñez is a six-day, five-night outdoor adventure where 100 underprivileged children from our community learn in nature. Campers swim and hike, play games, eat hamburgers and hot dogs together, and generally take time to breathe fresh air and be kids!

It’s the first time away from home for many of the youngsters, which as you can imagine is an experience in and of itself! With activities to develop leadership skills and improve self-confidence, Camp Núñez offers plenty of opportunities for growth amongst the fun.
Arts and crafts classes, ropes courses, storytelling, nature hikes, public speaking, educational classes, and team building activities are packed in to this traditional childhood adventure. Campers also receive free dental screenings and have access to a 24-hour-a-day health technician. Children leave camp with a heightened belief in themselves, a strong connection to nature, and with many new friends!
Camp Núñez is presented by CHD in partnership with Migrant Education. Donations from community groups and individuals make it possible for the young campers to attend free-of-charge. Please consider making a contribution; you have the power to transform a young life!
I am grateful to work for an organization that works to make our community better everyday. The ability to work with like minded people motivates me to continue to bring services to our families and students. Seeing the fruits of our labor in the smiling faces of our students who are experiencing summer camp for the first time is immensely rewarding.
