LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
As one of California’s leading 501(c)(3) organizations engaged in Lyndon B. Johnson’s War On Poverty for nearly five decades, CHD has ambitious plans for the years ahead. We are excited to grow and change along with the Northern California communities we serve.

Strategic Goals
The California Human Development (CHD) FY2025-27 Strategic Action Plan is structured around four interconnected themes aimed at enhancing the organization’s resilience and community impact.
- Operational Sustainability focuses on improving efficiency and data-driven decision-making, fostering supportive HR practices, strengthening financial resilience, and investing in staff development. For instance, the plan includes strategies to streamline management of grants and contracts, which is expected to lead to a more efficient process across the organization.
- Community Impact emphasizes increasing visibility and engagement, empowering residents, and ensuring services remain relevant. This includes developing targeted outreach campaigns to engage underserved populations, which aims to enhance community engagement and access to services.
- Organizational Flexibility is about adapting to changing conditions and diversifying revenue streams. The plan outlines objectives such as catalyzing future-focused planning and enhancing job quality and performance, which are designed to keep CHD agile and responsive to community needs.
- Strategic Partnerships aims to strengthen and expand collaborations to create a coordinated support network for farmworkers and their families. This includes implementing a unified partnership approach and formalizing collaboration with partners to enhance service delivery and maximize collective impact.
Through these strategic objectives, CHD seeks to ensure long-term financial stability and recognition as a trusted partner in serving farmworkers and underserved communities.
